The HOA ponds are maintained to conform with the water management conditions required in our documents. (u) "Stormwater Management System" means a system which is designed, constructed, or implemented to control discharges which are necessitated by rainfall events, incorporating methods to collect, convey, store, absorb, inhibit, treat, use, or reuse water to prevent or reduce flooding, over drainage, environmental degradation and water pollution, or to otherwise affect the quality and quantity of discharge from the system, as permitted pursuant to Chapter 62- 330, Florida Administrative Code.
The banks of the retention ponds must remain clear of any plants, shrubs, or trees for maintenance per the Covenant.
The retention ponds were installed to retain rain water from the roads and the water produced by the 108 owner’s lawns. The roads collect pollutants and other discharges from vehicles on our roads and with the rain this drains to the ponds.
The owners’ lawns have insecticides, fertilizer, or other chemicals sprayed on the grass and the runoff water goes to roads and drains to the retention ponds along with the pollen from the trees. When homes or driveways are pressure washed the water goes to the roads and then drains to the ponds when it rains.
Because the majority of water in the ponds is polluted from runoff and they are so small to catch much clean rainwater they will never sustain life over the years. The ponds do overflow into the creek when they reach the level designed but ultimately, they contain polluted water and no one should eat the fish if they catch them.
The ponds never should be stocked by homeowners they are not aquariums they are retention ponds for water runoff.
The ponds were never designed nor are they maintained to feed aquatic animals, fish or
turtles. The ponds should not be stocked with fish since they will become an HOA issue when they die and someone will have to remove them.
Of course the mowers should not be discharging any clippings into the ponds. The only thing in the ponds should be water runoff and the chemicals sprayed by the pond maintenance company to treat them as required.
V. STORMWATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
5.5. Use and Access. No Owner shall have access to the retention areas included in the Stormwater Management System except those Owners who own the area lying beneath or adjacent to such retention areas and as otherwise allowed by the Association rules.
Safety Tips
Generally, alligators less than four feet in length are not large enough to be dangerous unless handled. However, if you encounter any alligator that you believe poses a threat to people, pets or property, call the Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-FWC-GATOR (866-392-4286). Please be aware, nuisance alligators are killed, not relocated
Although most Floridians understand that we have alligators living in our state, the potential for conflict exists. Because of their predatory nature, alligators may target pets and livestock as prey. Unfortunately, people also are occasionally bitten.
Visit MyFWC.com/Gators for more information about alligators and the latest nuisance alligator program statistics.
